Blackhawk Area Council Wood Badge
I’m so excited about the prospect of you joining us on course for an experience you’ll never forget. The fact that you’re considering taking the Wood Badge course means you’re interested in furthering your leadership skills.
As a participant you’ll experience other leaders like yourself who share your passion for Scouting and your desire to grow as a leader. But it’s more than that. You’ll develop new friendships, discover new resources and leave the course with a notebook full of ideas that you’ll take into your role in Scouting as well as at home, at work and other areas of your life.
While some past participants may have described their Wood Badge experience and the process of “working your ticket” like an adult eagle project, I’d prefer that you look at your time at Wood Badge as earning the Bobcat rank. It’s not the end of a journey but rather it’s the beginning of a new one.
Consider this letter the start of a journey that I’m inviting you to share with over 40 people who will discover a fellowship in Scouting that has existed for a century. Come be part of the 100 year anniversary of Wood Badge!

Who Can Attend?
Wood Badge training began in 1919 by Baden Powell as a way to insure that the leaders of Scout troops were properly trained.
Reflecting on a century of Scouting, Wood Badge draws upon the most current leadership models used by corporate America, academic circles and successful organizations throughout the country to present the latest in leadership theory and team development to a new generation of Scout leaders
